This is a 12' hose with a built in regulator that will connect the Mr. Heater Big Buddy to a twenty pound propane tank. The regulator on this hose allows the hose to bypass the regulator in the Big Buddy by connecting to the quick-disconnect fitting on the Big Buddy instead of the screw-in connection. This hose gives you 1/2 PSI through the hose at any given time instead of 100 PSI that other hoses provide. Customer Review: The best hose for the Big Buddy Heater... very nice

This is the hose you want for connecting the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater to a large propane tank. Instead of screwing into the bottle attachments, it snaps onto the quick-connect link on the Big Buddy heater. It has a built-in regulator so instead of allowing the hose to fill with 100psi of pressure from the tank, only about 1psi ever enters the hose. This feeds a steady stream of the right amount of propane to the heater and reduces the risk/danger of a leaking or exploding hose.
More importantly, when you shut off the propane at the tank using this hose, the heater immediately extinguishes. With a previous (non-regulated) hose, I could turn off the tank and still wait 45 seconds to 1 minute before the excess pressure and gas in the line would be burned up. This is clearly a safer, more convenient option. This regulated hose also seems to eliminate most of the (minor) propane fumes that I could smell using the other (non-regulated) hose, making it even safer to use in an enclosed space.
The 12' length of this hose offers nice versatility in where you choose to locate the heater. The tank can be fairly far away, tucked in a corner, but the heater can still be positioned it the center of the room, etc. And, of course, you do not need to use a filter with this hose (the regulator reduces the pressure so low that there is no danger of hose deterioration contaminating the internal workings of the heater, which is what the filter protects against from non-regulated hoses), so you will save about $20 a year using this hose (Mr. Heater says to replace the filter each year if using a non-regulated hose).
This is the right hose, even though it seems a bit pricey up front. Go for it.
